Jury Is Still Out

No matter the opinion on Floyd Landis, it is always an inspiration to meet the pros. Our ride "Director of Doping" Bob B. met Floyd and sent along some pics at a speaking engagement.

One thing to note is that there will be no #1 jersey at the start of this years Tour. Team jerseys begin at number 11.

Hey Fellas,

If yard work in 100 degree heat counts, then this was productive training wknd. Steve - great site and cause. Congrats on creating the R2R entity. Guys I appreciate all the info that is starting to be exchanged. I fear my entries may be less empirical and perhaps more on the visceral side. All the discussion about supplements and recovery make me think back to a time when "recovery" meant something like "crap - I have to be to work in 3 hours ... I better get home and have a piece of toast, 2 aspirin and 3 glasses of water ... and don't forget to set the 2nd alarm ... for AM".

Training-wise, I've been mixing spin class with rides. The spins are crazy - music, fitness freaks and being pushed by rabid instructors - good for the cardio. I'm way behind, but doing what I can. The week in MN will be tough without the road ride, but there could be some off-road huffy trail mix. It will be tough to not partake all in all the vacay eating and home cooking. I haven't seen anything in the trades about the smoked lake trout and Leinenkugel diet!

One tip I can offer now is to start tuning and gathering for the trip and ride. We should be making final adjustments and getting used to them. Don't switch to new supplements and parts the day before the ride ... get things setup and set correct now. I'm replacing rubber and considering a compact drive to offset my heavy metal steed. New shoes this week. Thought about some other items, but sticking with comfort and proven components for now. That goes for supplements that work and sit well ... Steve here is a link to the version of Accelerade that Bob and I agree works well (I think Bob has moved on to HEED - perhaps Bob can share more info on this) http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=105&subcategory=1071&brand=&sku=11270&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%20Nutritional%20Drinks

The mix I've been using for a year or so seems to work well ... although when I OD, I notice that the "morning wood" gets a bit much ... especially at noon. The only thing more uncomfortable would be trying to pop out a kung fu throwing star shaped, $1,000 kidney stone caused by all the exotic metal laden supplements you just spent your summer gulping down. Perhaps the enzyte should be dropped form the mix? ( www.enzyte.com )

Bring tunes. An extra tube. Lube. Lets plan food & beverage. I can bring a blender. I also picked up a 4-bike, parking lot stand for staging (geez we are getting official).

Take care, hope y'all have a good Moanday.
