WTF?

Okay, I'm not much for getting on a soap box and stumping opinions, but as I sipped a 2004 Green Point Shiraz I got pissed (in an American angry way, not the British drunken way) as I watched the news and they covered -- in the high court -- the baseball steroid hearings. Now, the same day it was announced that Team Astaná was barred from the Giro Italia AND the Tour de France for steroid abuse. Consider this: all three men who stood on the podium in 2007 are now banned from riding... their case never vetted in a true court. Landis is still fighting it. Concador -- the proclaimed winner of last year's Tour is suspect, not tried and Leipheimer is an innocent victim of circumstance!

Now I don't condone doping, it is wrong and soils the sport. But I do support justice and innocence until proven guilty. I believe the punishment does not fit the crime.

Getting off the Soap Box now. Maybe I can work out some of my angst in Core Class tonight.

Low Battery

So, I am continually trying to monitor my HR and find some patterns. Last night's Spin Class instructor was a no-show so three of us just quietly spun away in our own little worlds. I was wearing the HR monitor and tried to push some big "gears" for a while and do some jumps. I noted that my HR went over 215 when I reached out over the bars but came back when I got the units closer together... Hmmm. Me thinks the battery is going low. I will get some new ones and reset for Saturday and see what that does. I was between 155 to 172 with effort when I kept the unit reading correctly.

Tonight the Nifi has errands and appointments so it is me and the girls. I hope to hit the RankRoom™ (trying on the name for size) for a while to work out congestion in the knees.

I need to focus on diet again. Seriously. My carb intake has been very sloppy -- too much processed foods, bread and rice. Go "Fatty" on your weight loss quest.

Spänking

Okay, I have not blogged since Thursday, mainly because I wanted to see where things were heading from a physical stand point. As I mentioned last week I was awaiting to Core Class. In typical Edmund fashion it was hard, but I knew that going in so I was able to adjust my weights as needed. Sure I bitch, but he is a good instructor and utilizes every minute of class. It is more of a bitch when the woman who gave birth three weeks ago can do more pushups than you.

I was a little sore Friday morning and after a tense day, I was looking forward to a theraputic massage scheduled for 5:00. Soft, Celtic music and water sounds aside, it was far from relaxing. I felt knots the size of marbles move in my shoulders and my hamstrings were like guitar strings -- tight! I think I actually broke out into a systemic sweat! I went home and hydrated with some Blue Moons and ate fish tacos.

Saturday morning I got up with all the best intentions to go to Spin Class. Fed the girls, felt my thighs -- tender to the touch and went back to bed for three more hours... I had a headache all day long but after errands and lawn mowing I went for a ride. Unbelievably I had some Spänk in the Meat Sticks. I really cranked the final miles and it felt great. It was even better to relax at home that night:-)

Sunday, family day, no rides. Today, rest day in prep for this weeks training. I need to find some rides (organized or not) to do this spring...
