Due to a number of meetings today I got up extra early and hit the trainer for an easy recovery spin. Morning exercise routines are not my favorite! Seemed to take a long time to warm up -- despite the fact I forgot to plug in the fan. Next time I'm bringing a bar of soap so I can multi-task. My goal now is to stay healthy despite a number of flu cases at work. Anti-bacterial hand gel for everyone!
Let's start formulating a menu. I can help shop when I hit G'sboro.
Best to all. Keep spinning.

Supplements...part #2:
Just a few quick comments on some supplements that are working for me...
I am now using the Hammer product line. I like the Hammer products because of the science behind it. They don't use additives that are devoid of nutritional purpose...so no Red #3 or any other coloring / fad ingredients.
As I mentioned in a previous post, I like the slower-release sugars/carbs like Maltodextrin, which is the base in most Hammer products.
I am currently using two different drink products from Hammer: HEED (High Energy Electrolyte Drink) and Sustained Energy. HEED is good for rides around the 2 hour mark because it has the maltodextran and electrolytes in one package. Sustained Energy adds protein in a 7:1 ratio. Accelerade has a 4:1 ratio of carbs to protein. So, the Sustained Energy product is a bit easier on the stomach for me. SE is also unflavored, so I can add whatever flavor Hammer Gel I want to add a few calories and give it some taste.
There is one additional product from Hammer that I have used during the Tahoe century - Perpetuem. This product is much like Sustained Energy but has just a little bit of fat added and is meant for rides > 4 hours. This stuff only comes in Orange Creamsicle flavor, so if you are not a fan of that...not the product for you. One little trick I learned regarding these products (Sustained Energy & Perpetuem) is that you can make a paste instead of a drink. I have reusable flasks from Hammer that hold up to 5 oz. I use one for Hammer Gel and the other for the Perpetuem paste. It has the consistency (and flavor) of pancake batter. It just makes it easier to take if you don't like the flavor in your drink. It's also easier at the SAG stops because all you need to do is refill with water vs. 'mixing up'.
Of note, both Perpetuem and Sustained Energy are available in one-dose foil packets. This way, you don't have to buy the mega-bottle and then realize you don't like it. If we lived closer, I would certainly send some your way. I just don't think USPS or FedEx would appreciate white powder in an unlabeled ziplock bag.
Guys,
I went to the local shop yesterday and just happened to catch a glance (imagine that) at the latest road offering from Moots, aptly called the Vamoots. This is an all-Ti company. I have heard great things about their mountain bikes, but don't know anyone with a road bike. Any comments from the team?
I really like my present ride, but am always on the lookout for new options...you just never know.
